The Eagles struck gold in the 2024 NFL Draft when they landed Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the first two rounds. Two years later, they're looking at two of the best cornerbacks in football-and two massive paydays on the horizon.

Historic Production

Mitchell and DeJean became the first homegrown Eagles cornerbacks to make the Pro Bowl since Lito Sheppard in 2006. This past season, they went even further-earning first-team All-Pro honors.

No cornerback in the NFL over the last three years has had a lower completion percentage allowed than Mitchell's 41.3% in 2025. DeJean posted 93 tackles, 16 passes defended, and two interceptions as the league's best slot corner.

Contract Situation

Both players will be eligible for their first contract extensions following the 2026 season.

  • Mitchell: 4-year, $14.81 million (current)
  • DeJean: 4-year, $9.28 million (current)

According to Spotrac's Michael Ginnitti, both players could reset the market at their respective positions. That means deals potentially north of $25 million per year.

Best Secondary in Football?

Add Riq Woolen as the third corner and the Eagles might have the best secondary in football on paper.

The combination of Mitchell, DeJean, and Woolen gives Philadelphia elite length and ball skills across the board. When you add Andrew Mukuba at safety-despite the questions there-this defensive backfield has the potential to be historically good.

The Investment Pays Off

Howie Roseman's decision to prioritize the secondary in back-to-back drafts is paying dividends. The Eagles went from a weakness to a strength in two years.

Now the question is: can they afford to keep both stars long-term?
