After 13 years coaching the Eagles offensive line through three head coaches and a Super Bowl championship, Jeff Stoutland has stepped away.

Stoutland's Legacy

"Forty-four years is a long time to be in this business," Stoutland said on the SZN Podcast with Nick Foles. "It's a grinding business, requires a lot of time away from your family."

While Stoutland was offered a chance to return as offensive line coach, he wasn't going to have the run game coordinator role, and ultimately decided to step away from coaching.

Under Stoutland, the Eagles consistently fielded one of the NFL's best offensive lines, including the unit that powered the Super Bowl LII championship run.

Chris Kuper Takes Over

The Eagles hired Chris Kuper from the Vikings, where he spent four seasons coaching the O-line. Kuper briefly crossed paths with Sean Mannion in Minnesota and received a strong recommendation from Vic Fangio, his former boss in Denver.

The 43-year-old played eight seasons with the Broncos before starting his coaching career in 2015.

Key Change: Run Game Coordinator

Unlike Stoutland, Kuper will not hold the run game coordinator title. That responsibility falls to Ryan Mahaffey, who followed Mannion from Green Bay.

This represents a significant philosophical shift, the run game will now be coordinated by someone from the offensive side rather than the O-line coach.

2026 O-Line Outlook

The Eagles' offensive line took a dramatic step back in 2025, mostly due to injuries. Lane Johnson missed half the season, and Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens were rarely fully healthy.

Expect the Eagles to address the position in the first round of future drafts, the search for Lane Johnson's eventual successor has been a multi-year pursuit.
