When the Eagles signed Elijah Moore in free agency and then traded for Dontayvion Wicks, many assumed Moore was already on his way out.
Not so fast.
Hurts Is Working with Moore
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler specifically named Moore as one of the receivers Jalen Hurts has been working with in private offseason sessions alongside DeVonta Smith.
"He's also been throwing off-site with some of his receivers, DeVonta Smith, who's his new No. 1, new veteran Elijah Moore," Fowler reported.
The fact that Fowler singled out Moore, not Hollywood Brown, not Wicks, is a strong indicator that the veteran has earned the quarterback's trust.
Why This Matters
Private workouts are where quarterbacks and receivers build chemistry and timing. By investing offseason time with Moore, Hurts is signaling confidence in the 26-year-old's ability to contribute in 2026.
Moore, a second-round pick by the Jets in 2021, has the speed and route-running ability to thrive in Sean Mannion's West Coast system. He's also proven he can be productive when given opportunities, he posted a 538-yard season in 2022.
Moore's Roster Spot Looking Safe
Many thought that with Wicks being another new addition, Moore was already one foot out the door. But Fowler's report paints a different picture.
In an offense that will rely on motion, crossers, and quick-game concepts, a receiver like Moore could carve out a valuable role, especially if A.J. Brown is traded and targets open up.
