The Philadelphia Eagles will kick off their 2026 campaign with a divisional showdown, hosting the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 1.

According to multiple reports ahead of the official NFL schedule release tonight, the Eagles have secured a home opener for the first time since 2024. Jordan Schultz confirmed the matchup, reporting that the NFC East will feature both Cowboys/Giants and Commanders/Eagles in Week 1.

The timing is significant for both franchises. Philadelphia enters 2026 looking to build on their playoff experience, while Washington continues developing around franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders emerged as one of the conference's most dangerous teams down the stretch last season, making this an immediate test for both squads.

Recent History Favors Philadelphia

Philadelphia has dominated the series recently, winning five consecutive season openers and sweeping Washington during the regular season last year. The Eagles last lost a season opener in 2020 - a 27-7 defeat in Washington.

The matchup will also mark the second of two Eagles-Commanders games this season. Per reports, Week 8 will see the Eagles travel to Landover for a Sunday Night Football rematch at 8:15 PM on NBC.

Full Schedule Tonight

The complete 2026 NFL schedule will be released tonight at 8 PM ET on ESPN and NFL Network. Several other Eagles games have already leaked, including a Monday Night Football matchup against the Cowboys in Week 7 and a Christmas Eve home game against the Texans.
